WEFLO, a future mobility AI solution company, announced that it participated in the “2024 World Smart City Expo” (hereinafter referred to as WSCE 2024) held at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Goyang City on the 5th.

On this day, Ko Jung-wan, COO of WEFLO, participated as a panel speaker in a lecture titled “Citizen-led Smart City” organized by Seoul National University’s Intelligent Information Society Policy Research Center and suggested the importance of building an advanced air mobility (AAM) infrastructure.

First, the “Citizen-led Smart City” lecture consists of a total of two sessions, and Kim Dong-wook, head of the Intelligent Information Society Policy Research Center at Seoul National University, introduced the “Korea Smart City Development Strategy and Tasks.” Professor Um Seok-jin of Seoul National University then took time to explain the international evaluation method and results necessary for digital city diagnosis under the theme of “UN DESA Digital City Diagnosis Announcement”.

Director Koh said in a panel discussion, “A sophisticated development strategy is needed so that the elements that make up the smart city can harmonize with citizens,” adding, “It is time for active cooperation between industry and academia, especially in building future air mobility infrastructure that will be responsible for the convenient and safe movement of citizens.”

AAM refers to a new urban transportation system using mobility capable of vertical take-off and landing, such as air taxis and electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL). It is considered an important factor in creating a smart city along with autonomous mobility and smart infrastructure zones.

WEFLO is a leading company in the AAM industry, which will be the main foundation for creating smart cities. It is developing a non-contact AI solution that checks the condition of future mobility gases such as drones, air taxis, and eVTOL within a few seconds to diagnose whether they fail and the replacement cycle of parts.

Meanwhile, WEFLO is making efforts to expand AAM infrastructure. Since 2023, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has completed the installation of drone take-off and landing sites in 23 regions across the country, and has been selected for the drone delivery commercialization project this year and is also building a drone delivery system in each local government.
